Wadjet Eye clearly want this to be a real test of logic and lateral thinking. This can be frustrating when you realise what you're supposed to be doing ("I need to use my plasma torch to open a car's motor cavity so I can take the motor"), but it won't work because you aren't clicking the exact space where it wants you to. It also suffers from the standard "point-and-click" problem of having to try every form of interaction with every object: left-clicking to use, right-clicking to observe, and/or using an item from your inventory to interact it with the environment. That's not to say that the puzzles are especially simple - many clues are ridiculously oblique and have you almost certainly scrabbling for a walkthrough to find the way forwards, which isn't great. ![]() You can also order Crispin to perform certain actions which, as a limbless mag-lev "floater", mostly involves flying to hard-to-reach places and bashing things in the right direction. Instead of a four-member party and a bewildering array of different tasks for each to accomplish, you have primary control over Horatio. Primordia definitely represents a step along the path of progress from Resonance. but of course, larger plans are in motion and lead Horatio and Crispin inexorably towards the rot (and rust?) at the heart of Metropolitan society. When he awakes, he finds himself tasked with restoring enough power to recharge his fuel cells, tracking down the thief and recovering his power core. ![]() However, this happy tedium is interrupted when a mysterious robot blasts its way into the ship and steals its power core, incapacitating Horatio in the process. Crispin, by contrast, dreams of travelling to Metropol, "City of glass and light, with free energy for all", which Horatio hates and fears for reasons he can't understand. Horatio fills his days with the task of repairing, but also with his faith in an obscure religion known as Humanism, venerating the great Primordial builder, Man. It's a life of quiet solitude, of salvaging scrap and using it to repair the ship, with the aim of one day getting it to fly again. 5, who lives in a crashed airship with his acerbic sidekick, Crispin Horatiobuilt v. True to form, it's a pixelly-retro post-apocalyptic story set in a world where all the humans are dead, leaving a legacy of sentient robots capable of free will and building other robots. Primordia is the latest release from indie games studio " Wadjet Eye Games" (with Wormwood Studios), who I mentioned before in my fairly-complementary review of their sci-fi point-and-click adventure game, " Resonance".
